Our philosophy  is to produce fine, custom-made, hand-crafted, hardwood furniture that will
make you feel good.  We strive to use woods that have been
grown and harvested in socially and
environmentally just ways.  Whether we use salvaged wood or FSC certified wood from community
forests and small, family plantations, we strive to support sustainable timber growers and reduce the
amount of wood that is wasted while bringing an elegant, finished product into your home.  We use
primarily organic, non-toxic wood finishes made from tung or linseed oils and wax; finishes that are
abrasion and scratch resistant and become more durable and beautiful with age.

Paul Kaiser is a former Peace Corps Volunteer who served for over 3 years in The Gambia,
West Africa.  He worked with several rural agrarian communities to develop sustainable land use
management systems that incorporated multi-purpose trees into the farm fields and gardens for soil
replenishment and protection, biodiversity promotion, and household products such as fuelwood,
timber, fruits, leaves, animal fodder, etc.  Since then, Paul has received dual Masters Degrees in
Natural Resources Management and Sustainable Development from the United Nations
University for Peace in Costa Rica and the American University in Washington D.C.  He has
worked with wood for most of his life and has been an accomplished furniture maker since 2002.

His Wife Elizabeth also served in the Peace Corps in The Gambia, West Africa as a Public
Health Volunteer.  Since then, she has received Nursing and Public Health Masters Degrees and
is working as a Public Health Field Nurse for Sonoma County.  Her artistic creativity, support and
strong management skills have been invaluable to the efforts, vision, and success of our business.
